Customise Your Natural Cotton Bannister Rope

Welcome to the RopeServices UK Natural Cotton Bannister Rope Configurator. Follow the four simple steps below to create a fully bespoke bannister rope, tailored to your exact specifications.

Step 1: Choose Diameter & Length

In this step, you will select the diameter and length of your bannister rope. The diameter refers to the thickness of the rope, which can influence both its appearance and how it fits within your space. Choose the right length to ensure a perfect fit for your staircase.
Length refers to the total length of the bannister rope. If you'd like a drape, please use our drape calculator for assistance. Click here (open in a new tab). Remember to include the drape length in the box below when specifying your desired rope length.
For help with measuring, please see our detailed guide: How Do I Measure My Staircase? (opens in a new tab). Need to convert feet to metres? Click here (opens in a new tab) to use our unit converter.

Step 2: Configure Your Rope Ends

In this step, you will select the ends for your bannister rope. Man Rope Knots: The knots are three times the diameter of the rope. Bannister ropes with man rope knots are measured from behind the knot to behind the knot. Spliced Eyes: Measured from the bearing point of the eye to the bearing point of the eye. The eyes will be served in a matching colour and type to the rope. Spliced Eye and Man Rope Knot: Measured from the bearing point of the eye to behind the man rope knot.

Step 3: Choose Worming

Worming is a decorative technique where a smaller rope is woven into the grooves of your bannister rope, adding a refined, personalised touch. If you’d like to add worming to your rope, please select from the options below. What is Worming? (opens in a new tab).
Note: If worming is selected, the images may not show the exact rope type or colour. We are working to add as many pictures as possible. Rest assured, your rope will be customised to your specifications.

Step 4: Choose Your Rope Fittings

We offer rope fittings in two sizes: Standard and Low Profile. Both designs are identical in style; the only difference is how far they sit from the wall. Important: Fittings are not included by default, so please ensure you account for all the fittings required in your total. Each fitting is essential to secure the rope properly.
Diameter Standard Fitting Low Profile Fitting
24mm 7.5cm 6.5cm
28mm 8cm 7cm
32mm 9cm 8cm
36mm 10cm 8.5cm
40mm 12.5cm N/A

Step 5: Choose Wooden Mounts

RopeServices UK highly recommends using wooden mounts for securely attaching your bannister rope to the wall. The number of wooden mounts is calculated based on the number of fittings you have selected. If you need extra mounts, they can be purchased individually here (opens in a new tab).
By ticking the box below, you confirm that the configuration of the bannister rope entered above is correct and meets your specifications.
